1976 OPEL ASCONA i2000 GR.2

With this particular, now fully restored car, Marcus Grönholm won his first Finnish Junior Rally Championship  title in 1988 .

The livery of the car matches the livery used by Marcus Grönholm at 1988 Lammi Rally, where the needed points for securing the championship title were reached.

The car was restored by Juha Maunula.

The car belongs to Marcus Grönholm's private collection.

THE PROJECT

The most challenging aspect of this project was finding sufficient initial information to accurately reproduce the decals and stickers. There were very few pictures of the car, making the research work time-consuming.

The pictures needed to re-create the 1988 livery, multiple Finnish rally photographers were contacted to get the photos.

Customers often find it challenging to understand that the actual installation of the graphics is the easiest part of the project. Gathering the initial information necessary to recreate the graphics typically takes more than ten times longer than the installation itself.

Despite the challenges, the end result is a perfect match of the original - every small detail has been once again accurately replicated.

PROJECT PICTURES

The first phase in all projects is to create a drawing, where all the reproducible graphics are present in correct scale. This drawing is used to get the customer approval for the graphics.

One of the challenging re-creations ever made - the 'Kultakortti' sticker on the bonnet. It took hours to create just this one sticker with the desired level of detail. We can quarantee that this sticker matches 100% to the original one.

Car cleaned and ready for vinyl and sticker installation.

It's the details that make the difference. Reproduced 1988 Lammi Ralli sticker. 100% like the original one.
